Electrical installations required for the addition of two Spray Dry Absorbers (SDAs)
and a new By-Product Handling System used to reduce sulfur dioxide (SO2) emissions
from Karn's two 265 megawatt coal-fired boilers to meet EPA clean energy requirements.
Work included complete erection of the owner supplied equipment including receiving,
unloading, inventory and storage of equipment.

The owner supplied equipment consisted of 4.8 KV metal-clad switchgear, 4.8KV 480V
transformers, 480V substations and 480V motor control centers. Additionally,
the installation included 23,000 ft of cable tray and 1.2 million ft of cable.
We faced an aggressive schedule to bring the first unit into operation within 14
months from the start of construction while engineering was being completed on the project.
Over 50% of the cable was installed outdoors during one of the coldest winters on record.
